Coaches Development Clinic

Bandits have been approved by Alliance to offer a coaches clinic that will award 3PD points for certified coaches if they take one hour of on-ice training with PMC Skating and participate as an on-ice coach in the player development clinic (see details below).  The Bandits player development clinic will be run by PMC Skating this season because of Covid-19 restrictions.

Bandits HL and MD coaches will learn how to teach edge work to players of all age groups and skill level.  Coaches will learn how to incorporate various skating techniques into drills recognized by Hockey Canada.  Paul's goal is to teach the coaches how to breakdown hockey and skating skills, how to create progressions, how to recognize and address body alignment and imbalances when stickhandling and during puck control, and create new movement patterns.

This will be scheduled in October (place, date and time to be announced) in order to introduce Paul McLean to Bandits HL and MD coaches and to inform our coaches about the Player Development Clinic run by PMC Skating.  Please see the Bandits website for the player development clinic details.  Bandits are covering the cost of the coach’s clinic so there is no cost to our coaches.

There are two hours of on ice instruction broken down in appropriate age group teaching sessions, IP/Novice (U7 to U9) coaches for the first hour, Atom/PeeWee/Bantam (U11 to U15) coaches for the second hour.  We may want to have a few volunteer hockey players to help run the drills with our on-ice instructor.

To sign up for the coaches clinic or if you have any questions please contact Ian Colquhoun, at the following e-mail [email protected].  Please provide your name and age group/time slot for the on-ice instruction that you want to join.

Let’s have some fun and get better together on the ice this season!
