Motown Cup Champions!
On the weekend, the London Bandit Atom MD team traveled across the border to Detroit to compete in the Mowtown Cup. We started off strong with a hard fought victory over the Aurora Tigers friday afternoon. We followed that up Saturday with victories over Grosse Point and Farmington Hills. That put us 1st in the division and onto the finals sunday afternoon.
After the 2nd game saturday we were excited to learn that the finals would be played at Joe Louis Arena. Sunday morning we headed out in a 17 car convoy to downtown Detroit. We managed to get through the Detroit Marathon and the traffic heading to the Lions game and made it to The Joe.
We were once again playing the Aurora Tigers who were out for revenge. The boys were pumped up to be playing in the big arena where so many greats had skated before, and where my Leafs got beat Saturday night:) We came out flying and fought hard. It was a back and forth game until we managed to pull away in the 3rd and finished strong for a 6-4 Championship victory.
The boys played hard all weekend to bring home the trophy and I am proud of each and everyone of them.
