INTERNATIONAL SILVER STICK CHAMPIONS!!!
After a long weekend at the Pelham International Silver Stick Finals, your Peewee MD Bandits come home Silver Stick champions!
After rattling off 13-1, 16-0, and 10-0 wins in the round robin against Pelham, Long Island, and Team Philadelphia, the boys had a quarter final match up against the Collingwood Blackhawks, coming away with a 5-1 victory.
By winning this game and advancing to the semi-finals, it set up yet another thrilling game against the Cambridge Hawks. Despite being out played for the majority of the of the game, the Bandits fought hard and found a way to win, pulling off a 2-1 overtime win against a great Cambridge team. Special shout out goes to Vinny who kept us in the game, and Jaden Bulmer who found the back of the net in overtime.
After a long weekend, championship Sunday was finally here, one game, winner takes all, against a solid Milton Winterhawks team. The game was back and forth for the full three periods, with Liam Sillers leading the way with two goals that had the Bandits up 2-1 with a minute left in the third period. Milton managed to score a dagger to make it 2-2 in the dying minute of the third period. Before we knew it, overtime was here again. The Bandits faced penalty trouble in overtime, killing off two 4 on 3 powerplays for Milton. This was also done after starting goalie Vinny Arsenault, who played fantastic, went down with an injury. This set the stage for some heroics as Darrien Chartrand came off the bench to make some huge saves for the Bandits while short handed in overtime. After the Bandits killed off two penalties, the momentum swung in the Bandits favour, with Aidan Doyle scoring the game winner off an offensive zone draw.
The coaching staff would like to congratulate all the players on a fantastic weekend. It was a true team effort and something we will all remember for a very long time. Thank you to the parents for the great support all weekend long. Looking forward to more memories like this!
