It's too bad Kyle couldn't stop pucks that go under the net! For that, in truth, is what it took for a very determined Bandits C team to score the second of just two goals they scored on 25 shots. Literally, the puck slid under the side of a net that was raised up on its peg, a detail that was missed by two referees. Oh well!
Luckily, the trio of Kasey, Dylan and Spencer were not to be denied, themselves firing on all cylinders on a VERY long shift after that to tie the score and send both teams home with a single point. Pin-point passing also led to the first goal, again by the same trio, with Kasey scoring the first, from Spencer and Dylan; and Dylan scoring the second, from Kasey and Spencer.
Defensively, both pairings played well, with Patrick skating back on full throttle to break up a couple of would-be breakaways and sliding to block a shot that otherwise might have ended up in the net. But all four defensemen (Patrick, Nathan, Canaan and Cal) played well against a high-octane offense that had won four games straight, outscoring their opposition 20-7 during that stretch.
THREE STARS:
1. KYLE (25 shots, 23 saves, many of them spectacular)
2. KASEY, DYLAN AND SPENCER (6 points between them, accounting for both goals and 9 shots)
3. PATRICK (for several potential goal-saving plays)
HONOURABLE MENTION: NATHAN, CAL and CANAAN (all very solid on defense).
Next game is next Sunday, January 31st, 9:00 PM at Oakridge.
