Stratford Early Bird Finalist
The boys competed in their first tournament of the year this weekend and despite a valiant effort, we came up just short of a championship.
On the Friday the boys took on the Kitchener Ranger and got off to a winning start downing the Ranger 4-2 in game one, in the night game on Friday we were matched up with the Hamilton Huskies, once again it was a 4-2 win for the Bandits. In game 3 of the tournament we were matched up with league foe the West London Hawks, coming out victorious 3-2. In game 4 of the tournament, the boys faced off against a tough Cambridge Hawks team in a lose and go home situation. Despite trailing 4-1 at one point, the Bandits turned things around and courageously battled back to take a 5-4 win over Cambridge.
On Sunday all that was left was the finals in a format that saw the top two teams face-off in the finals after a four game round robin. The boys once again took on a talented Kitchener Rangers team who was seeking some revenge from game one of the tournament. Despite jumping out to a 1-0 lead, the Rangers clawed back and led 2-1 until the final buzzer.
Congratulations to Kitchener on the tournament win. It was a great start to the hockey season and the boys showed a lot of talent, effort and resilience this weekend. It was a solid weekend of hockey and brings high hopes for the rest of the season.
Go Bandits Go!
